Legal update 31/5/13 - Entertainment Licences - Mon 3 Jun 2013
This from Sandy Adirondack:
Audience size for live music events that donít need an entertainment licence to be increased from 200 to 500.
Performances of plays and dance will no longer need to be licensed if audience is no more than 500; most indoor sporting events will no longer need to be licensed if audience is no more than 1000.
The government intends to exempt community venues (community centres, village halls, schools, nurseries, hospitals) from nearly all entertainment licensing.
Until these changes are in place, the definition of regulated entertainment remains unchanged and a premises licence, temporary event notice or club premises licence remains in place.
Remember that events Ė regardless of whether they do or donít need an entertainment licence Ė may still need other licences, in particular PRS/PPL for copyright or recorded works.
Dates for these amendments are not yet known, so do consult the PRS/PPL websites for up to date information.
