MIDLANDS EAST GROUP
Radcliffe Ladies Choir
Vacancy for a Musical Director
Radcliffe Ladies Choir, a friendly, enthusiastic
and successful ladies choir, are seeking a suitably
qualified energetic and inspirational Musical Director
to maintain our present high standard and continue
our development, to commence February 2010. We
are a repertoire choir with a current membership
of 40 ladies who enjoy singing all types of music
and our Choir Motto is “Friendship through
Singing”.
The Choir is based in Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire
and rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings,
7.30 to 9.30 p.m., except during the month of August
when we take our summer break. We perform
between 5 & 7 Concerts per year.
Applicants should have suitable conducting experience,
musical leadership, good communication skills and
a sense of humour. A salary is payable
by negotiation with the Choir Committee.

THAMES SOUTH GROUP
Reading Phoenix Choir
Vacancy for a Musical Director
Reading Phoenix Choir (RPC) is seeking a dynamic
and inspirational leader, following the death
of its previous MD, Norman Morris, who founded
the choir in 1969.
Now entering its 41st season, RPC is regarded
as one of the country's finest amateur mixed-voice
choirs. The 50-strong choir gives approximately
12-15 concerts each year, as well as entering
competitons and touring overseas.
The new MD will be expected to take on and develop
the choir's tradition of singing a varied programme
of short pieces of music from the 16th century
to the present day, including commissioning new
works.
RPC Rehearses in Reading on Monday evenings
during term time and on some Thursday evenings
too.

MIDLANDS NORTH GROUP
Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir
Vacancy for a Musical Director
Owing to the retirement of the current Musical
Director (MD), the Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir
(MWMVC) is seeking to appoint a new MD to take
up the role in early 2010.
This is a well-established choir that celebrated
its 40th anniversary this year. With just under
40 members the choir presents an average of 12
concerts a year as well as participating in exchanges
with other choirs to give programs of variety to
suit differing occasions and venues. The choir
has a mixed repertoire of religious pieces, folk
songs, songs from shows, spirituals and modern
compositions.
The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at the
William Brookes School, Much Wenlock.
The applicant will, ideally, have had previous
experience with male voice choirs and have knowledge
of MVC repertoire and be able to demonstrate good
teaching and communication skills. The ability
to work in harmony with the current team and choir
is essential. The choir has a supportive committee
who are keen to build a relationship with the new
MD to plan musical programs for future events and
to maintain the high standard set by the Choir’s
previous musical director.
We are looking for an enthusiastic MD who will
be committed to the long-term development of the
choir. Remuneration will be by arrangement and
agreement.
The successful applicant will be an ex-officio
member of the choir executive committee and will
work closely with that group.

The Grassington Singers
Vacancy for an Accompanist
The Grassington Singers have a vacancy for an
accompanist.
As well as oratorios and other sacred music, we
are prepared to perform
modern or popular classics, for instance John Lennon's
music, show songs,
novelty or comic songs such as those in the style
of well-known composers,
Gilbert and Sullivan, barbershop, madrigals, ballads,
part songs etc.
We meet on Friday evenings in the School Room
of the Methodist Chapel in
Chapel Street, Grassington. We have a cup of tea
and a chat at 7.00 and
start singing at 7.30 until 9.00.

Holme Valley Singers, Holmfirth
Vacancy for an accompanist
Following the appointment of our
accompanist to the post of MD we now wish to fill
the vacancy this has left.
We are a mixed voice choir of approx
35 voices and rehearse on Tuesday evenings from
7pm to 9pm during term time at Holmfirth High School. We
have a wide repertoire and each year aim to enter
the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival in Huddersfield
and possibly another competition (Whitby 2009),
give concerts and are available for weddings and
private functions.
